Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-30
Unplug is a launcher for Android that helps you use your phone less. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: it collects nothing and shares nothing.
Who we are
The controller of this policy is Unplug. Contact: support@unplugphone.com.
What the app does with data
- Unplug does not collect or share any user data.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything off your device.
- All processing happens on your phone. The information the app works with stays there: your list of installed apps, how long you use each app, your rules (blocks and limits), the titles of held notifications (only if you turn that on) and your settings.
- Backups are disabled. Nothing is copied to the cloud or to another device by Android backup.
Permissions and why we ask
- Accessibility service
- Used only to apply your own blocks and limits. The focus service reads only which app (package and window name) is in front. If you turn on short-video blocking, a second, optional service looks at the structure of the screen (view ids and class names) in YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook only, to detect short-video feeds. It does not read text. It never reads passwords or what you type, and it keeps or sends no text.
- Usage access
- To show your screen-time totals and, as a fallback, to detect which app is in front.
- Notification access
- To hold notifications on your device until you want to see them. This is opt-in and stays on the phone.
- Display over other apps
- To show the floating session bar.
- Device administrator
- Only for the double-tap screen lock. It is not used for anything else.
- Query all packages
- So Unplug, as a launcher, can list and open the apps installed on your phone.
- Other permissions
- Notifications for reminders and alerts, setting a clock alarm when you tap the clock, opening the notification shade with a swipe, changing the wallpaper to match your theme if you ask, and a special setting for grayscale that you grant yourself through adb. None of them send data anywhere.
Purchases
Unplug Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play, under Google's Privacy Policy. Unplug has no server and no account. On your phone the app keeps only a hash (SHA-256) of the purchase token, the product id and two timestamps (purchase time and last check), encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore. It never stores the token itself or any payment detail, and none of it is sent to us or anyone else.
Children
Unplug is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included.
Deleting your data
Uninstall Unplug, or clear its app data in Android settings, and everything it stored is gone. We hold no copy, so there is nothing to request from us.
This website
unplugphone.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
